Official sees docs on Serbia’s part in TurkStream signed in Jan

BELGRADE, Nov 9 (PRIME) -- Documents on Serbia’s participation in Russia’s TurkStream natural gas pipeline construction may be signed in January 2019 during President Vladimir Putin’s visit to Belgrade, Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov told reporters on Friday after a meeting with Serbian First Deputy Prime Minister Ivica Dacic.

“Regarding the TurkStream issue, we have a road map and we are moving according to it. I hope that some agreements may be signed during a visit of our president to Serbia as chances that they will be ready are high,” he said.

The TurkStream pipeline was designed to consist of two branches with a length of over 900 kilometers and a capacity of 15.75 billion cubic meters each. One of them, finished in May 2018, is to carry Russian gas to Turkey, while the other is to transit gas to the European countries through Turkey and is to be finished in 2019.

Borisov also said that the two countries may sign an accord on construction of a nuclear research facility in Serbia during Putin’s January visit.
